Arena in Colorado Springs
Since opening in May 1995, the Colorado Springs World Arena Ice Hall has
fast established itself as not only one of the world's top ice sport training
centers, but also as a valuable community resource for everybody from
children to adults. The World Arena Ice Hall also serves as a practice
facility for both the WCHA Colorado College Tigers and the WCHL Colorado
Gold Kings. The World Arena Ice Hall is also the training home of future
champions in other sports as well. The facility is used by USA Hockey
and serves as the training site of the US Short Track Speed Skating team.
There isn't a city in the United States that can boast the figure skating
heritage and tradition of Colorado Springs. Home of the world-famous Broadmoor
Skating Club, the World Arena Ice Hall is one of the finest training facilities
in the world. With two sheets of ice, a jump harness, video and nutrition
services, as well as a ballet room and weight training program, the World
Arena Ice Hall offers a comprehensive training program that has attracted
athletes from across the nation. Under the direction of Director of Skating,
Diana Ronayne, the World Arena Ice Hall coaching staff includes some of
the finest coaches from around the world. The result has been the rapid
establishment of the World Arena Ice Hall as one of the top figure skating
training venues in the world.
Despite its olympic heritage, the World Arena Ice Hall is much more than
a training center for elite athletes. The tremendous resources of the
facility are open to the public year around. Open seven days a week from
6:30 am to midnight, the World Arena Ice Hall continues a tradition established
at the old Broadmoor World Arena by hosting daily public skating sessions
during the lunch hour. The World Arena Ice Hall is also the home of three
youth hockey associations: Youth Amateur Hockey Association (Y.A.H.A.),
Pikes Peak Amateur Hockey Association (P.P.A.H.A.) and Colorado Springs
Youth Hockey Association (C.S.Y.H.A.).
One of the most popular programs at the World Arena Ice Hall is the Learn-to-Skate
program. Open to anyone 3 years of age or older, our Learn-to-Skate program
is the best introduction to the world of ice sports. Offered throughout
the year, Learn-to-Skate classes include six 30-minute lessons with a
professional coach and six passes, including free skate rental to public
skating sessions at the World Arena Ice Hall.
